Moving On

I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the students and families for supporting our blog and to BISP for giving us to a chance to explore the blogging world! It has been a great adventure sharing, learning and communicating with all of you as well as with teachers and students from around the world.
I have moved on this year and am no longer teaching at British International School Phuket but look forward to continuing to blog with keen students in Canada.

A special visit

Today we had an extra special appointment with Mr Richards, our Headmaster at BIS Phuket.  Taking him up on an invite from last term, we went to his office and showed him around our blog. We shared with him some of the different features of our blog including the different links and our growing visitor map. We also demonstrated how to navigate around the blog as well as how and where to leave comments.  We shared several of the whole class posts we've created over the year as well as visited our individual Kidblogs!

It was exciting to visit Mr Richards office to share our learning and hope that we've motivated him to try blogging on his own...

Who have you taught blogging skills to?

Newspapers

Today the students acted as newspaper reporters to create articles about Mark Wood's recent expedition up Mt Everest.  We used Fodey newspaper generator as a tool to make our news clips--this one was written by Annika:

We'd like to send a big THANK YOU to extreme explorer Mark Wood for sharing with us his expedition to Mount Everest.  It has been fabulous to be able to follow his journey up to the top of the world and we look forward to our next Skype in the Classroom call with Mark once he's back in England.  To climb to the summit of Mt Everest is one of the most grueling expeditions in the world and we are glad to hear that Mark made the smart decision to return to safety when conditions proved too dangerous for his team as they made their final approach to the summit.

Road Safety

The students at BIS Phuket are putting a whole school focus on Road Safety this term in school. Today we created a VOICETHREAD to share some of our thoughts with you...Enjoy!

This week

In school this week we wrote another Blogger challenge and students have written about COLOURS on their personalized Kidblogs.

We are also thinking lots about explorer Mark Wood and wishing him all the best as he makes his final ascent up Mt Everest later this week.  We are part of a wonderful Skype in the Classroom project with 10 other schools from around the world communicating with Mark as he climbs the highest mountain in the world!
We investigated the Fotobabble app this week in school and created some personalized messages for Mark as he makes his way up the mountain.

Fotobabble is lots of fun--have you ever used it?
